How was your Turkey Day?

Q:

A: Different, is pretty much the best word I can find to describe this Thanksgiving. We discovered earlier in November that we have relatives within driving distance, and we were invited by them to spend the holiday at their house. I've met only a few of my non-immediate family, only a couple times, when I was a toddler, so of course I had no idea who these people were. My aunt, uncle, and some cousins would be there. This morning both of my brother and my mom decided to back out - leave only my dad and I to go. So I threw a turkey in our oven (to feed to my lazy family since they'd decided to drop out of the trip) and we headed out. We got lost twice- knocked on the wrong door twice. Ended up having to drive to somebody ELSE'S house because the original inviters (that's completely not a word) moved the event, and ended up in a home with six children under five years old, two pregnant women, and a bunch of people who aren't even remotely related to me or my father. I was served plastic food by the kids, who also attacked me numerous times with a stuffed pony and kept asking me if I was "a kid like [them]". And they were amazed by the fact that I barely even moved the whole time. I don't know. It was a bit strange. I'm not used to kids, so having them all around me, screaming and crying and laughing and running, was wierd. And the only person there who I knew was my dad. And everybody there was wildly offended by the fact that I'm a vegetarian; even though I'm totally fine with just eating the veggies they served. On the bright side, the place where they lived was gorgeous. And very rural. Though, that made getting lost quite a bit easier...
