Q: thanksgiving day is celebrated on thursday.. but still on friday, saturday and sunday? so the shops are closed all the weekend? many places are closed? the people don't work from thursday to sunday? I am sorry.. I am not American.. I am Mexican
A: MANY places are closed on Thanksgiving (Thursday), government offices in particular. Friday, unless someone takes a 'personal day' or a vacation day is normally a regular work day (everyone in my work place is off, but one government guy...SOMEONE has to be there). Friday is the BIG shopping day and beginning of Christmas shopping frenzy. Thanksgiving is SORT of celebrated on that weekend...because of left overs from Thursday.
