I'm going to wait in line during Black Friday for a $400 laptop, how early should i go?

Q: Experienced black friday shoppers and exployees only please!!! thank you!

A: Okay, in 2005, I got in line at 2:30 a.m. for the laptop computer. There were 20 available, and we were 14th in line. NO problem, right? Well, the other 3 lines (this was at Wal-Mart and in the service desk is where they had us all lining up) were for the new Gameboy Advance and some other hot item. Once sales opened, they LET THE PEOPLE IN THE OTHER 3 LINES also get items designated for the other 2 lines who were waiting. Long story short, our line didn't even make it to #6 before they said "sorry, we're sold out". Also, people had "connections" at the front of the line, and a few of the people waiting were off duty employees. There were, as you can see, quite a few issues that should not have been there. They should have made people waiting for, say the gameboy, then enter the laptop or other line instead of letting them get one of each when they made it to the front. I also feel, as a former employee of big item retailers, they should have excluded the employees directly from entering the line...family yes, but not the employees themselves.
