Thanksgiving Menu - 2 questions?

Q: My boyfriend wants to do Thanksgiving at our house this year. We don't have a dining room set, so he wants to take a couple of sawhorses and put a piece of plywood on top with a table cloth. I think that this would be very tacky. I told him that we could have it at our house next year and he's determinded to have it at our house. The reason being he wants both our families to be there so we don't end up going out seperate from one another so this means 10-12 people at our house. ANY IDEAS? Herb Roasted Turkey Breast (12 lb) with Pan Gravy Apple-Cranberry Dressing Mashed Potatoes Sweet Potato Casserole Fresh Cranberry-Orange Relish Corn Roasted Turnips Maple-Glazed Yams OR Bruce's Old Time Candied Yams Grean Bean Casserole Zucchini Casserole Salad Dinner Rolls Pie - Pumpkin/Apple/Cherry Is this to many side dishes for Thanksgiving. Everyone's help is greatly appreciated. most of the items will be delegated to other family members to bring

A: You should be making the turkey and the dressing. Everyone else should be bringing the rest. If there are too many sides for the people to bring, you'll know when to cut back. I think a plywood plank just won't do it because if it collapses someone could be hurt and a real mess could occur. It may be time for a dining table... When we entertain, there's very little table space because it's covered with food. So people eat on dining chairs in the living room, the couches, the fireplace bricks, and sitting on couches or sprawled all over the floor. Ask the family that's coming whether they have extra chairs or TV trays. TX Mom
