need personal opinion and objectivity plz? regarding thanksgiving?

Q: Thanksgiving is coming up very soon and i have been wanting to do something to help someone and maybe give them a nice thanksgiving. My idea is to go to the high school i graduated from, (Jr. in college now) and ask if I could somehow find out how was the "poorest" or "most financially struggled" and visit them and tell them i want to go buy thier thanksgiving dinner. I know it doesnt cost much and they may already have a dinner but i hope the gesture is seen. Then I wish to go to wal-mart with my money and purchase a turkey, pies, all the thanksgiving treats and have them cooked and delivered to them. If i cannot cook then buy all thier stuff so they dont have to purchase anything. This may seem like a stupid idea. My ?'s are is it? Is it possible to obtain those records? or should i just give them money? I dont want to do that. I merely want to give someone else something i take for granted every year. Food, a home, and ppl who care, and a lil bit of hope. TY.

A: Hello, I have a family that I'm sponsoring for the holidays too. I bought the kids Halloween costumes, I'll be sending them a Giant Eagle gift card for Thanksgiving and lots of gifts for Christmas. I've helped them with other things they've needed too. It is a wonderful experience! I suggest you make a quick call to your Family Services office and see if they are organizing a Thanksgiving sponsorship. Or, just find a needy family though your school, and drop of all the groceries they'll need for Thanksgiving a few days before, maybe with a Thanksgiving card on top too. Make sure someone is home, put the groceries in front of the door, knock loudly, and take off (quickly). Let them cook it for themselves as many people enjoy preparing this special meal for their family.
