Q: I'm English and pumpkin pie isn't available to buy here as it's not part of our traditions. I really want to try one so the only thing to do is to make one myself. I can't get pie filling in a can and think that pie made with a real pumpkin would taste better anyway. Is this a good recipe for a novice: http://www.pumpkinpatchesandmore.org/pumpkinpie.php and do the Americans on here have any tips to add? Thanks in advance for your help.

A: I've used that recipe before, and it's very good. The only thing I would change is how to make the crust. I use half crisco and half butter/margerine because that way you get both flakyness and tasty crust. My Grandma used to also melt some butter on the top of the crust before she baked it, but that's a bit too much fat for me. And yes, I am an American. Yay!
