St. Paddy's Day / Bag Pipes?

Q: Always wondered - why do you always see bagpipers wearing Scottish kilts and playing Scottish bagpipes on St. Paddy's Day, and not the Irish bag pipes (uilleann pipes)?

A: The uilleann pipes were actually invented after the Grand Pipes were banned by the British in Ireland. And they are designed to be played while seated. And the Kilt isn't just a Scott's thing - it's Celtic, and the Irish are Celts as are the Scots. There are many different tartans specific to Ireland (Tartan referring to the weave of the material)
