Q: St. Patricks day in savannah will be March 14th...seems like a Friday event will draw a smaller crowd... I'm not asking why it isnt celebrated on the actual day (March 17th), I'm wondering why the celebration isn't on Saturday like usual.
A: They moved it earlier because they don't want it to interfere with the Holy Week aka the week before Easter. As you probably know, Southerners are very serious about religion and they don't want the drinking/crazy partying to be happening during this time (Palm Sunday, Good Friday, etc.). It might be inconvenient for some but I think there will still be huge crowds...I mean its St. Patty's Day in Savannah ( I def would still like to go)!
