A: It is a bit derogatory. There is certainly a gene passed on through some Irish families involving alcoholism. Alcoholism is a disease and should be portrayed as such and not a symptom of bad character. That bothers me. Of course the media has very little morality and no human empathy so how can we expect them to live to the same standards as many of us hold ourselves to. They live to make news in any way shape or form...truth or some muted version of the truth - makes no difference.
