What do periods have to do with Ramadan?

Q: I was randomly doing a little google research (instead of, you know, actual work) and I came across info on Ramadan. I noticed that if a woman has a period during Ramadan she is considered to have broken her fast and has to make up the day(s) after. Why is that? I thought it was about abstaining from food, drink, and sexual activity. Very clever Iran. Did you practice that in the mirror? Your joke lines. Personally I think you could do a bit better. So are women on their periods supposed to be eating then?

A: it is by Allah's order .. and hes the most caring ,the most merciful.. think over the wisdom behind it - most women (especially the younger ones) get weak during their periods , have dysmenorrhoea(cramps due to uterine contactions) because of which they would eat certain kinds of foods (like foods containing fenugreek which is believed to decrease pain),drink lots of water ,some take pain killers(like mephanemic acid), sometimes the pain can be so severe that it hinders the daily activites , some have mood swings and get irritated easily etc .. not all women have these symtoms.and those that have need not have all these symptoms. had fasting been made compulsory for all women during their periods, it would definitely have been so hard for most of us and if it were made optional for the menstruating women, even then most muslim women would try to bear all the pain and try to keep the fast with a hope of getting more reward. but you see , Allah does not want to burden his slaves . he strictly forbade "all " women to fast during their periods (but they would have to make up for the missed fasts later) ... good for women.! however , they wouldnt have to make up for the missed prayers .good for women again! (imagine if women had to make up for this, there would be sooo much to pray in the end) also, being on periods is equal to being in a state of impurity(no woman would disagree with this) and shes exempted from doing the usual acts of worship ( she can make supplications though) ps:the state of impurity does not make her an untouchable(unlike what the christian and the jewish scriptures say)
