Muslims, are you fasting for Ramadan?

Q: Do some Muslims choose not to participate? Tell me more about Ramadan please. I am not planning on a conversion, but also, can one convert to Islam? If so, is there a process? Tell me more, I am curious! Also, I am curious about women who are Muslim but do not wear hijab? That's not true, I know that pregnant women, the ill, children, and the elderly Muslims do not have to fast because they must take very good care of their Health, it doesn't mean they are not Muslim. I don't want harshness or mean answers, I want insightful and honest answers, Please be nice! What re the 5 pillars of Islam? I don't know much about Islam but I have a Muslim friend and I am interested in learning more about her religion and customs, and I would like to respect her and her family who have invited me to their home, and avoid anything disrespectful.

Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqoon (the pious - see V.2:2).
