Q: What is the evening time also? NY? does the city matter too?

A: Salam for you The time for suhoor and the time for iftar or breaking our fast depend on where we live .But in general rule the time for suhoor is about at least 1 hour before fajr (dawn) and the time for iftar is just when the sunset at maghrib time.In Ny you can ask the management of the nearest mosque for his explanation about when you have suhoor and when you can eat foods and drinks in the evening time.Maybe you can search the website of Islamic center there.and take a look about fasting during ramadan
