A: Well, that's the difficulty of the conflicting opinions based on other than the Qur'an. Prayer and fasting are prescribed in Al Qur'an. Without them, we leave Islam. Leaving Islam is your choice, of course, but I suggest studying the Qur'an thoroughly for it self, as it is. The ahadis aren't verifiable as the Qur'an is, so basing important decisions like this on them can cause a lot of difficulty for us. Disclaimer: I have to mention that I do not intend to issue fataawa, in case the content of this post is contrary to any fataawa previously issued. I mean nothing other than to state my personal opinion based on Al Qur'an, according to my own study, and to the exclusion of ahadis, tafsir and fiqh, also according to my own study, and in no way do I intend to infringe on the personal authority of any person or group who has been elected to issue fataawa for application by any other person or group.
