Q: How does one wish a fellow Muslim at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan? Is it Ramadan Mubarak or Ramadan Karim? How does one respond to such greetings?

A: Both are commonly used and correct. Ramadan Mubarak literally translates to: Blessed Ramadan (May your Ramadan be blessed) while Ramadan Karim literally translates to: Generous Ramadan. Ramadan Mubarak is what I tend to use more because of it's meaning compared to that of Ramadan Karim. A person responds by saying either Ramadan Mubarak or Ramadan Karim to the other.
