Q:
A: It's a celebration comemorating the time in the land of Mizriam when the Angel of Death was to passover because of Pharoah's hardened heart to the God of Israel. The Hebrews had to take a yearling (male lamb) and slaughter it, placing the blood of the lamb that was slain over their the top and sides of their door post, so that death would passover them. If they did not do this command the first born male would die when the Angel of death passed over. This is what passover represents.
