Why can't you eat wheat on Passover?

Q: I thought the whole point of passover was to not have leavening? Why not be able to eat wheat and corn and other grains? I personally am not Jewish, however I live in a home that the family is. They didn't know the answer to my question. I rather like passover too. The seder is always fun. and Lady, it is JESUS not the way you spelled it.

A: you can't have anything that rises. You CAN eat wheat- in the form of Kosher for Passover Matzoh. You cannot eat anything that is leavened like bread, corn (it expands- as in popcorn), pasta, barley, etc. Anything that has any grain that has the potential to rise cannot be eaten. Just think- it's over tomorrow after Sundown! But I personally LOVE Pesach!
