Is pasta un kosher during passover? If so why?

Q: I know that it uses flour but so does matzoh. Also is it allowed to rise? Isn't it just wheat and sometimes egg (no yeast)?

A: When the Jews left Egypt, there wasn't enough time to allow their bread to rise. Nowadays, "Chametz" is the term used to describe any mixture of flour and water that sat for more than 18 minutes (mixing the flour, kneading, rolling, and baking). So Matza and bread both have flour and water, except Matza was made in less than 18 minutes. Pasta is also a combination of flour and water which took longer than 18 minutes to make.
