why do stores carry matzah that isn't kosher for passover?

Q: I just went out to do some pre-pesach shopping and the only matzah I could find was manishevitz matzah, in the "ethinc foods" section that said up in the right hand corner "not for passover"! I'm so confused as to why anyone would want matzah other than at passover and if they did want it why not still make it "real" matzah? also, any suggestions as to what I should do since there is no kosher for passover matzah to be found and passover starts monday?

A: Actually they have Matzoh in the ethnic area all year long, so that's why you are finding the not for Peasch Matzoh that you did. Are you sure there wasn't another spot in the store that had a special set up for the passover matzoh? A lot of stores do that, and is this the only store in your neighborhood that you can shop at. If it is, I would take the not kosher for passover matzoh and use it, there really is no difference except that a rabbi didn't bless it. I don't know how religious you are, but, if you aren't glatt kosher you aren't really doing anything wrong. As far as I can see you aren't using bread, you are using matzoh, and that's all that matters. Better this than nothing.
