can someone briefly explain the origion and meaning of the term passover?

Q: thanks! and who is Saul , David and Solomon and the relationship between all three. I am trying to learn more about Jesus Christ and Catholicism.

A: If you want to learn more about Christianity, then you would probably do better by going to a part of the board for questions regarding Christian observances. Passover is a Jewish observance; it commemorates and recalls the liberation of the Jews from slavery in Egypt, which we as Jews are instructed to do, and to teach the story to our children. It gets its name from the fact that, during the tenth plague visited upon the Egyptians, the Angel of Death passed over the households whose doors were marked by blood as Moses had directed when God commanded him to do so; in the plague, the first born of all places not marked died - not only human beings, but animals as well. Saul, David, and Solomon were all kings of Isreal at various times. Each has his own story; you should be able to find more about them online, as they each have a fairly long story.
