A: Have you ever heard the story of Moses? If not here is a very basic run down on what Passover commemorates. Back in the day the Pharoah of Egypt gave out an declaration that all male hebrew children had to be killed because a prophecy was made that a male child would rise up against him. Moses was a hebrew child that was found in a river behind the pharoah's home buy a daughter of the pharoah. Moses was the one who gave this prophecy to the pharoah because the pharoah wouldnt let God's people (hebrew slaves) go free. Well God told Moses to have lambs blood put over the doorways of all Hebrew families to save the children. A plague came in the middle of the night and killed the first born male of every family in Egypt that did not have the blood on the door. In grief (because the pharoahs son had died) the pharoah allowed the Hebrew slaves to go free. Then he realized what he did and chased them to the red sea where God opened the sea and let the Hebrews go through but when the Egyptians tried to go through he drowned the Egyptians. Passover is a festival that basically celebrates the fact that God allowed the Hebrews to escape from slavery, and therefore allowed them to escape from immenant death (the Egyptians were very hard masters who thought nothing of killing).
