Q: daddy's 60th is coming oct 5 and we are at a loss for what to get him....he wants for nothing, is retired military, divorced but still hangs out with my mom (so much that they might has well not divorced), has a great sense of humor, likes/listens to classic rock and imus, watches things like penn & teller, south park, and family guy, he is independent and doesn't mind eating in a restaurant alone, he has several degrees and is extremely intelligent.....so now that i have given you a little background on him can you suggest anything to give him for his birthday.....its a milestone birthday and we would like to give him something unique that wont just be boxed away and doesn't need an occasion to bring it out....something he can get use out of but at the same time isn't so common that everyone has it....there are 4 of us going in on the gift so money is not an issue (although we would like to keep it in the $400-$500 range).....any suggestions would be appreciated to the first 3....daddy has his hair and you should be so lucky to make it that far in life....judging by your answers i assume you really hit your head hard when you fell off the turnip truck.....60 is not old and you should hope that your parents get to this age before you have to say goodbye to them.....thank you kate for a sincere answer.....obviously there are too many window lickers on here who are suffering from a case of rectal cranial inversion

A: The sixtieth is generally considered the silver anniversary, so I would make that connection and get him something like a silver pocket watch engraved to him. Another idea would be to plan a gathering where all the family will be present, be sure to take lots of pictures, and put them all in an album for him, and have the front engraved with his name, birth date, and the date of the party. You could also just give him gift certificates to various restaurants around town, especially new places to try.
