Q: I will be 26 on Aug. 22. I'm a married mother of 1 and have just about all I could ask for. We are actually in the middle of a move so I really can't stick my brain in the "what do i want for my birthday" mode. However, my husband, as well as most of my family continues to ask me what I want. The best I can come up with is a get together 'party' with all of my friends I haven't been able to hang out with in years. But I need an answer for the ' what can I buy you ' question. What do you suggest? Thanks!
A: This is easy... If you feel awkward asking for or even suggesting a gift (as many people do around their birthday), simply deflect the occasion. You're moving for goodness sake. This is a good time to inventory of what you really need around the house. Simply suggest you could do with a few good house warming gifts on your birthday (new pots/pans, plants, picture frames, welcome mat, etc...) and hint at things you really need (like that china set you've been eyeing).
