Lughnasadh (Lammas) is coming up. What do you do to celebrate?

Q: I'm a solitary pagan (not part of a group) and wondered what you do to celebrate? I should say other than making baked goods. I usually do a braided loaf and various harvest mixes. I would like some ideas that could incorporate teenagers who are not themselves pagan.

A: Dear Doodlestuff, How cool! (I didn't realize you were pagan!) Ideas: Make corn (most traditional), dried fruit and veggie dolls to represent rebirth and save them for Samhain celebration offerings. Have a picnic to celebrate the coming harvest and the fruits of Mother Earth's labor. Make your own incense! This is fun for everybody and you can let everyone make their own to keep or have a big trading session! Visit a craft fair, traditionally this was a time for people to show, market and trade their wares. Have a Sabbat bonfire or Witch's Bottles and rid yourselves of bad habits bound and written on paper. (Then you can make s'mores!) Play outdoor games, games are an intrigal part of this holiday! Remember the dead - this holiday was also celebration of the death of a mother. Make a memory book or tell stories about loved ones who have crossed over. It is full of great ideas, activities and information! They also carry them at Target. http://www.llewellyn.com/ Hope you have a lovely holiday! Blessed be!
