Q: Here in the US, we've just recently celebrated the 4th of July, our Independence Day. I was watching the fireworks that night, when a slightly disturbing thought ran through my head. Wal-Mart, Publix, and the local mall were all open for business on the 4th. Last year on December 25th, they were all closed. ...Recap: on a *national* holiday, most stores are open for business. on a *religious* holiday, all stores are closed. Am I right to be disturbed by this?

A: very right, considering the fact that not all employees believe the same things and the "religious" holidays you speak of are only, ONLY the christian ones like Christmas. other religions get left in the dark and forced to work. my friend, for example, is Wiccan. Instead of Christmas, she selabrates Yule, which is extremely similar to chrismas, however it takes place on the winter solstace. She was working at Mcdonalds in December. She worked BOTH Yule and Christmas.
