Q: I hear about Kwanzaa on TV or in what I read, but I don't know anyone who actually celebrates Kwanzaa or who doesn't think it is a joke. Also if you really do celebrate it, here is a question. What is the difference between celebrating your race during the week of Kwanzaa or celebrating your race during (the month of February) African American Month?

A: I agree most people don't celebrate Kwanzaa as they should. I'd like to celebrate, but since it wasn't really part of my culture growing up it's sort of hard to start a tradition. The month of February is African American HISTORY month which is celebrating the African American's contribution to American society, nothing really to do with the principles of Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is more about celebrating aspects of our culture not really focusing on history.
