Q: Hi, I'm quite naive on this sorta topic so....erm.....sorry! I'm British but want a party to celebrate Independance day. 1st Q: Is this a bad idea.... is indep. day not supposed to be celebrated by the Brits? 2nd Q: Should the 'party' be in the day or at night time? 3rd Q: What sort of entertainment could I put on (American theme?) 4th Q: Other than American flags, what sort of decorations could I use? thanks for your help. :)

A: 1. Independence Day was when America declared their independence from Britain. I don't know if Britains want to celebrate the day their colonies left. Although, you can take it from the perspective that it is the birth of the USA, which is a country that strives to be a global leader and has been a symbol for freedom (freedom of religion, etc.) 2. It can be either. We think of the 4th of July as a day for fireworks, which is why parties will start in the day and last through part of the night. 3. I never hold my own parties, so I don't know. Maybe have some american music/videos, maybe an "American Idol" karoake where you sing songs by american songwriters. 4. Maybe pictures of landmarks, such as the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Washington Monument, Golden Gate Bridge, Statue of Liberty, etc.
