how is the environment of the united states been affected since 1970?

Q:

A: Since the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act the United States has seen monumental changes in its environment. Positive>>> Our lakes and streams are now drinkable were as the Cuyahoga River actually caught on fire. Since the 1970s, much positive influences have over come the Earth. Timber companies replant trees they cut down instead of clearing a new forest. With new technology and understanding what the human race is capable of, predictions can be made to help and prevent many of Earth's issues. We can see what the over use of fossil fuels is doing, we can measure the life of our resources such as water tables, oil, and the geographic make-up of our Earth, plus we now have the ability to lobby against "Earth's" opponents to create positive change. (an impossible task till the birth of the "hippie" age) Negative>>> America is one of the largest producers of solid waste due to our material addiction, but by no means are we close to the largest polluters.(That award goes to China and Southeast Asia) Another issue is America is very uneducated about the environment. This loss causes us Americans to not practice a sustainable future. Therefore, we Americans ask way more than the Earth can give. Some dude(I'm not sure) predicted that if all humans on Earth lived like Americans, then it would take 4 Earths to sustain us.
