Q: i am indian person but never really celebrated diwali like they do in india what i dont wish to be in india my life would been better i would been more traditional girl, on diwali we give gifts and burn crackers together with friends and familys, in my skewl i am only indian and feel so left out as i have no proper indian friends

A: That is interesting! At least you do get to burst crackers and exchange gifts. Think of so many, who cannot even do that. It is never the same in a foreign country like it would be in India. But you could be more traditional within your home. Wear Indian clothes, draw a Rangoli. Mandala some US friends call them. Then put candles or put up lights in your House. Do a little Lakshmi Puja. It is easy. We have the web to learn so much! I could teach you too. And "Diwali" is all about lighting up that 'inner light'. You could also do some charity: give to the needy. It gives one a lot of satisfaction too. I do not understand where you live. Or would have helped more. I wish you a happy trip to India on Diwali some day. Blessings.
