Q: My boyfriend and I have been discussing what to do for Christmas, and we would love to go away - either on a skiing holiday or sun! We would go for a week from 26th/27th Dec, but skiing seems to be really expensive (more so than what it was a few years ago). We have a decent enough budget, but don't want to miss out on having a good time, or settle for "budget" accommodation. On the other hand, we would be happy to go for a week in the sun. I just wondered what experiences people had had of Christmas/New Years holidays abroad? What to look for when booking? What to avoid, etc? Any advice, recommendations or anything would be greatly appreciated!! Muchos gracias!!

A: If you want somewhere different and some skiing why not have a look at Turkey? Not the coastal region but around Capadoccia (I know it's not spelt right but I'm near!) It is a magical area with houses and hotels carved out of lava which looks like fairy chimneys and is beutiful. You could do a hot air balloon ride over the snowy scenary on Christmas morning - sunrise is beutiful. Skiing is also supposed to be good around there but not quite so developed.
